Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
St. Vincent Medical Center welcomes all interested individuals, 15 years of age or older, to volunteer at our facility. By volunteering, not only will you receive valuable experience and exposure to the healthcare field, but you will also play an important role in enabling the hospital to provide the highest level of service to our patients.

Volunteer placements are available throughout the Medical Center and may include duties such as:

Customer service for visitors, families, guests and patients
Administrative and clerical support
Medical Staff assistance
Gift Shop staffing
Assistance at Case de Amigos, the hospital?s community youth center.

Regional Occupational Program (ROP)
St. Vincent Medical Center, in conjunction with Belmont High School, participates in a Regional Occupational Program (ROP) which allows high school students to received valuable experience in the healthcare field.

The Regional Occupational Program gives students ranging in age from 15-18 years, a chance to work in a professional environment, while earning school credits towards graduation. Students learn general and clerical skills which may include data entry, event coordination, filing and Xeroxing.

A student interested in volunteering at St. Vincent Medical Center as part of the ROP must first go through an extensive orientation process. The process includes:

Completion of an application
Parental consent of health information
A tuberculosis test
Attendance of hospital orientation which includes a video presentation of St. Vincent Medical Center and the Daughters of Charity, as well as information on the various rules and regulations of the Medical Center
Successful completion of exams pertaining to safety, confidentiality and patient privacy

Once the student has passed the orientation, he/she will be given a uniform and an official Medical Center badge, and will be assigned to a department. Departments may include Radiology, Laboratory, The Spine Institute, Marketing/Public Relations, Accounting, Admitting, Business Development, and Transplant services.

Since the Regional Occupation Program at St. Vincent Medical Center began three years ago, over 200 students have participated. Some students have even found full-time employment at the Medical Center upon graduation.
