Trips are booked well in advance. Great opportunity for humanitarian service to the needy for professionals as well as for medical students and lay volunteers. Participants should be prepared to work in areas without the normal comforts of home, deal with some adversity, and "expect the unexpected". This one week opportunity can be a life-changing experience. MEDICO charges a trip fee of $630 for lodging, food and in-country transportation, immigration taxes, temporary travel insurance, etc. Airfare is additional. Bring educational materials to local health promotors and host organizations. Education, when appropriate, is shared with individual patients in dental, eye and medical areas or in small group setting. Spanish is helpful, not required. Trips are one week duration. Volunteers come from all across the U.S.
