Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
Interplast partners with physicians in developing countries to provide free reconstructive plastic surgery for needy children and adults. Interplast?s programs make surgery available for patients with congenital deformities (including cleft lip and palate), burn scar contractures, and other debilitating conditions. The organization?s scope of services includes: -- Supporting surgeons in developing countries managing their own outreach programs; -- Sending volunteer medical teams overseas to perform the needed surgeries and assist in skills transfer; and -- Coordinating workshops providing advanced training in specialized skills for host country medical professionals. nterplast teams include plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, operating room nurses, and recovery room nurses. Interplast volunteers should be skilled in treating patients with cleft lip, cleft palate, and burn injuries. Some Interplast programs also focus on microtia, hand surgery, and craniofacial surgery. Please contact the Interplast office for detailed program information -- the main office is in California, telephone (650) 962-0123. PLEASE NOTE: INTERPLAST CANNOT ACCEPT MEDICAL STUDENTS.
