These dedicated workers offer their time and expertise so key patient services are available 24X7, 365 days a year. In-service volunteers deliver X-rays, lab specimens, flowers and coffee. They take photos of newborn babies and serve as hospital tour guides. They handcraft tray favors for patient meal trays and Meals on Wheels clients, and create one-of-a-kind crafts for the yearly fundraising bazaar. There?s even a special group that delivers flowers and gifts to donors, board members, employees and volunteers when they are patients in the hospital. More than 120 volunteers run the Saddleback Thrift Shop, an off-site store in Laguna Hills (23024 Lake Forest Drive). The store is staffed by 35 volunteers and has raised more than 1 million dollars for Saddleback Memorial cardiac programs by selling greeting cards, candy, flowers, baby clothes, stuffed animals, jewelry and other unique gift items. The Meals on Wheels program delivers nourishment for the body and soul to homebound clients throughout the South County area. Volunteer drivers use their own cars and gasoline to deliver friendship and dietician-designed meals to people that are recovering from illness or a recent hospital stay. The program caters to special dietary needs and delivers 50 to 70 meals a day, 365 days a year. To join any of these volunteer groups and for more information, please contact us.
