Patient/ Family Support Volunteer needed for 6 to 12 months
Opportunity Description: Each assignment is unique, geared to meet the needs of the individual patient or family. Assignments may include a weekly friendly visit for emotional support and/or companionship in the patient's home or in a nursing care facility. Volunteers read, write letters, play music or games, do a hobby, watch TV or lend a listening ear, assist with light house duties/ errands or sit with the patient while the family member gets out or attends to their personal needs. Volunteers do not provide ANY personal or physical care to the patient unless volunteering in a professional capacity. Volunteers designate the communities they will cover as Vistacare offers services in many areas in Eastern MA. Information is provided about what the patient/familiy requires , then volunteers can accept or decline the assignment. Training is provided. Must be dependable, able to maintain confidentiality and be a good listener.

Opportunity Description: Assist with light office duties in our Westwood office including mailings, filing, computer, data entry work, faxing, copying and special projects based on your experience. Must be dependable, able to complete tasks, adhere to confidentiality agreement.

Crafters needed for 6 to 12 months
Opportunity Description: Let our talent brighten th day of one of our patients. Some activites are: knitting blankets, creating gift basketsor cards for holiday or birthday celebrations, sewing seasonal print pillowcases for patients or remembrance pillows for families, crafting murals from magazine pictures, creating picture or memory books for patients. We welcome suggestions for additional projects. Drop items off at our office or arrange for pick-up. VistaCare offers services in many communities in Eastern MA.

Patient/Family support volunteers offer friendly visiting, companionship, supportive presence, errands, or stay with the patient a short time while the caregiver takes a break. Volunteers do not provide ANY direct physical or personal care for patients. Training is provided, and ongoing support is available.



Administrative volunteers assist with light office duties. Special project volunteers can knit blankets, sew remembrance pillows, perform yard work or use their talents to benefit our patients in other ways. Whatever your time or talent might be... we have an opportunity for you



Requirements: Completion of an application and provide two references, background check, sign a confidentiality and ethics agreement. Annual TB test is is required and provided for volunteers having patient contact.

Hospice is a philosophy of care for patients and their families who are faced with a life limiting illness. The focus changes from the cure of the disease, to improving the quality of life. In addition to treating the physical symptoms of patients disease, end of life emotional and spiritual issues are addressed for both the patient and family. We offer that care, help them affirm new goals to replace the goal of recovery and are available for support 24 hours a day. A team of professionals including physicians, nurses , social workers, chaplains, bereavement counselors, home health aides and volunteers provide this care in whatever setting the patient calls their home- their own house, a nursing or assisted living facility, a group home or even a shelter.
