Public Health Aid Network:

What exactly is this?

We are creating the world's largest network of motivated volunteers who would like to help their local community hospitals, governments and health care systems in the event of a public health disaster or event.

How are we doing it?

Sign up for a volunteering account and once you login you can register to become part of the Public Health Aid network. We allow you to specify your specific interests in providing assistance during a disaster. Whether you have health care training or not, you can join the network. We will provide your contact information to your local government in the event of a public health disaster and assist in the rapid mobilization of wonderful volunteers like yourself. Based off of your specified areas of health care assistance, we will help rapidly contact you via email/telephone and get you to the area you need to go. All these services will be free of charge to your local government and non-profit organizations and we will never sell your contact information.

How do you contact me in the event I am needed as a volunteer?

Our system is highly advanced and using automated systems we will call you via telephone and/or email with details on your reporting destination, organization and contact person. However, in some instances history has shown that telephone and email service becomes unoperational in areas near the disaster. So, we have launched a service whereby local hospitals and other non-profit health centers act as the receiving centers for volunteers that cannot be contacted via email or telephone. Volunteers are pre-assigned to specific hospitals in their community so that even before a natural disaster, volunteers know that if their email and telephone system becomes unoperational, they have a default local center where they should report for duty. Given the last few major public health events in our world history, it has become evident that volunteers were not equally distributed among the hospitals, so that some hospitals had very few volunteers, while others had an excess. Our system would help to equalize the volunteers among institutions and increase the number of volunteers at surrounding health centers based on where a disaster occurs. To sign up as a receiving center as a HealthCare Volunteer Public Health Aid Network hospital or non-profit health center, please email us at health@healthcarevolunteer.com

How do I sign up my facility as a Public Health Aid Network volunteer receiving center?

Our system helps to equalize the volunteers among health care facilities during a disaster and proportionately increase the number of volunteers at surrounding health centers based on where a disaster occurs. To sign up as a receiving center as a HealthCare Volunteer Public Health Aid Network hospital or non-profit health center, please email us at health@healthcarevolunteer.com

Can I volunteer to help in an international area?

It is difficult to volunteer in an international area with a supporting organization unless you have a specific expertise or if you have previous disaster experience, extensive professional training, fluency of the language at the disaster site and an ability to commit 2-4 months of time to volunteer at the disaster site. You must have a valid passport and be able to work in very tight resource constraint areas. The best way to volunteer internationally is to start near home first and volunteer locally in disasters. Once you have built up experience, you may be more useful to organizations in international disaster-relief situations. It is not recommended for you to travel to a foreign country on your own to help in a disaster situation. health@healthcarevolunteer.com
