Volunteers must be kind, patient, and considerate. All volunteers are screened with a CORI and driving record check. Most assignments are Monday - Friday and allow for a flexible schedule. Volunteers can help as much as once a week or as little as once a month. Total Number of Volunteers Needed: 10 Find Out More Friendly Visitor needed for 6 to 12 months Opportunity Description: Volunteers are matched with an elder who live in their own home in the community. A volunteer visits the elder once a week for an hour or two. The friendly visitor is there to relieve loniness and isolation and to become a friend to an elder would appreciate and benefit from a social visit. Volunteers can either take an elder to the store or go to the store for someone. Shopping for the elder can be done once a week or every other week. The volunteer is matched with one elder and will meet with that person once month. Volunteers are trained and receive ongoing support and training.
