HealthCare Volunteer expands direct patient care to India
Gurgaon, India (2/16/2008) - - HealthCare Volunteer announced today that it has expanded its operations into India. Ravi Raghavan, Vice President of Asia for HealthCare Volunteer, is working with local NGOs to set up health-related volunteering opportunities in India. HealthCare Volunteer will source international medical volunteers while its local partners will secure partnerships with local Indian clinics and provide accommodation to these volunteers. HealthCare Volunteer’s local partners will liaise with health ministries and other relevant government health organizations to determine where there is the greatest need for healthcare volunteers.

“We are very excited about our new operations in India,” said Raghavan. “Though rapidly improving, India still needs help to provide healthcare to its poorest citizens. India’s large population and harsh climate put all Indians, especially poorer Indians, at risk for a number of communicable diseases like TB, HIV, malaria, etc. We can start to make a positive impact through direct patient care volunteering opportunities and awareness campaigns.”
HealthCare Volunteer plans to set up its first volunteering opportunities in the National Capital Region (NCR) of India (Gurgaon, Delhi, Faridabad, and Noida).
